Cathy Choi received her MFA from American University in Washington, DC. Choi is represented by Margaret Thatcher Projects, NY and Amy Simon Fine Art, CT. Her works have been exhibited nationally and internationally at the Hunterdon Art Museum (Clinton, NJ), UMASS Herter Gallery (Amherst, MA), D.U.M.B.O. Arts Center, (Brooklyn NY) and Galerie Karrer (Zurich, CH). She was a painting instructor for the National Academy School, NY for numerous years. Choi’s previous career in graphic design and her work has been recognized with awards from AIGA (1993, 1994) Art Director’s Club of Philadelphia (1994) and I.D. Magazine (1993, 1994).
Abstract Painting: The Process

This class emphasizes process in Abstract Painting. Through theme based exercises, the class together creates variations in a particular focus, using primarily acrylic, charcoal, and ink. Develop your own intuitive responses by placing greater emphasis on spontaneity and visual sensation by using repetition, color, line, and lyricism.
