Sculpture: Basic Techniques for the Human Form
The human body has always been a source of inspiration to artists, whether the classics, as an abstract, fragmentation, in the round, or as an interpretive narrative. The student will gain an understanding of the fundamental structure of the human body focusing on balance, gesture, and attitude and model this information into an original work.
Working with a live model, the student will learn how to pose the model so as to create this narrative. Historical context will be provided, especially with respect to contemporary styles. Water based clay will be used and may be kiln fired ( Kiln fee not included).
For students interested in continuing to work on their sculptures without a model beyond 6pm, NYSA offers the option of enrolling for additional time on Mondays from 6 - 9pm.
