Introduction to Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is a complex graphics, image editing software and paint program and it has become an industry standard and an invaluable tool for artists, designers, and photographers, to edit graphics as well as create and manipulate images. Over the duration of this course, we will learn the basics so that you can complete the most essential tasks of image creation and manipulation, but we will also delve into some of the more advanced features so as to get as much out of the program as possible.

Adobe After Effects Crash Course

One of the most used animation and visual effects packages in the world today. A basic and invaluable tool for any artist, After Effects is increasingly used in the realm of fine art. This workshop will introduce students to the possibilities of AE, students will learn how to get started with the basics of After Effects, building projects and be introduced to the various aspects of working with moving images and creating simple animations.

Open to all students with basic knowledge of Photoshop.

Mixed Media Stories

This class will explore creating collages that visually represent personal memories and dreams. Students will have the opportunity to delve into their own experiences to create unique pieces of artwork that reflect their individuality and creativity while exploring various techniques for creating collages, including layering, blending, and exploring found materials such as old photographs, magazine clippings, and fabric scraps.

We will begin by reflecting on our specific memories and dreams; then, students can journal and sketch thoughts, themes, and ideas, using them as inspiration for different pieces. Throughout the course, we will discuss the principles of composition, color theory, and texture and how these can create cohesive and visually captivating collages. Students are encouraged to experiment with different techniques and styles while receiving personalized feedback and guidance from the instructor.

Large Prints

Create your image on a plate larger than full- size paper (22”x30”) that extends far beyond your imagination. Develop individual projects in mediums including monotype, drypoint, linocut, collagraph, carborundum, and chine colle. Just bring your passion and explore new idea. Limited seats available

Experimental Printmaking & Mixed Media

Here the making of one-of-a-kind prints along with collage assemblage drawing and painting can be explored and combined.
Careful individual attention is offered to students at any level of experience, and personal work is encouraged.
It’s suggested that one bring imagery, 3D collected fodder, flat textures such as lace string dried flowers et, -printmaking paper
(Arches Cover 22”x30” is favored), and a few colors of water-soluble or water-soluble oil
printmaking inks. The school meets other needs to start.

Cyanotypes

Create images rather than capture them. Expressive possibilities in historic photographic processes offer a compelling alternative to modern digital prints. Fine art papers, hand applied archival emulsions, and the mercurial effects of chemistry and changing light provide surprises and opportunities for the adventurous image maker. Topics will include cyanotypes, Van Dyke brown, bleaching, toning, paper selection, photograms, and the history of photography. Most materials will be provided.

Open to all levels.
