Large Scale Contemporary Watercolor

Large scale watercolor painting can cultivate the sensation that the viewer can physically enter into the image itself, while upending expectations of what watercolor is.
Students can work at any scale in this class but the space allows for students to work as large as they want, throw paint with vigor, and embrace the physicality of scaling up.
While working large scale with watercolor may seem intimidating at first it can actually make it easier to gain mastery of various techniques. In addition to scale, we will explore other formal qualities such as composition, mark making, translucency, opacity and color. Experimentation will be encouraged by pushing the boundaries of conventional watercolor technique in unexpected directions. An emphasis will be placed on individual artistic growth.

All levels of experience are welcome.
